WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a hybrid telework workweek 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides leadership, support, and consultation to Mental Health Matters (MHM) School Based Mental Health grant to ensure the effective delivery of program objectives and goals.  Manages and ensures program implementation of the MHM grant five-year project and corresponding activities at the designated elementary schools. This position is a grant-funded position dependent on funding provided by the U.S. Department of Education.  Continuation of the position is contingent upon ongoing access to grant funding from the Department of Education during the calendar year and the Department’s renewal of funding for subsequent calendar years.  To the extent that grant funding is continuously renewed, the grant-funded position cannot extend beyond December 31, 2029.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local policies and procedures regarding counseling;

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;

  • Effective time management skills;

  • Ability to design and deliver professional development;

  • Ability to evaluate training and professional development to ensure topics and information are being implemented;

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, administrators, support staff, and other stakeholders.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university or college in the field of Psychology, Social Work, Counseling Education, or Human Services field;

  • Five years of experience in K-12 education;

  • Experience in implementing a grant-funded program.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina professional educator’s license;

  • Licensed (or license eligible) in the State of North Carolina to provide mental health services: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC), Licensed Psychologist (LP);

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated leadership as a school administrator or program director for three or more years;

  • Hold or be eligible to hold an Administrator’s license.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures appropriate funds administration for the MHM grant per established federal, state, and local policies by working closely with the Budget office.

  2. Supervises and evaluates SBMH Program Coordinator, 

  3. Provides leadership in developing and implementing MHM program plans.

  4. Serves as an advocate/liaison between the school system and local, state, and federal agencies.

  5. Prepares and maintains reports the MHM grant requires for local and federal agencies.

  6. Communicates the goals of the MHM grant program activities to education stakeholders.

  7. Assists principals, counselors, teachers, and other stakeholders with data interpretation and understanding of student data.

  8. Participates and attends MHM meetings.

  9. Develops and delivers professional development activities regarding student data and support activities to school staff.

  10. Enhances the school counseling program by using available technology resources.

  11. Maintains current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders.

  12. Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) and MHM grant partners.

  13. Conducts an annual program audit to review the extent of program implementation; analyzes data to guide program direction and emphasis.

  14. Measures results of the MHM grant program activities and shares results, as appropriate.

  15. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving a vehicle.
