WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Supports Senior Administrators with communications plans by creating and posting photos, video, and written content in district newsletters, on internal and external websites and on district social media platforms. Supports control room operations and livestreaming of Board of Education committee and formal meetings. Supports Senior Administrators by providing photo, video, and written coverage of school- and district-level events. Supports updates to sites and pages on internal and external websites. Supports collecting and reviewing data to report on communications initiatives.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of best practices in internal and external communications;
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Adobe Suite; Google Apps;
  • Critical thinking and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to produce photo, video and written content aligned with Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) style and brand guidelines;
  • Ability to work within a team, demonstrate initiative, and provide timely and professional customer service to colleagues and internal and external partners;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize tasks to best meet the needs of the district;
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, and the community.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, journalism, marketing, or related discipline; AND
  • Two years of experience in communications or marketing environment; OR
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully meet the essential duties may be considered.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Produces photos, videos, and written content for internal and external websites, email newsletters, and district social media channels.
  2. Builds and updates external and internal web pages and sites.
  3. Supports Senior Administrators with the execution of communication plans to support district initiatives.
  4. Supports control room operations and live streaming of Board of Education committee and formal meetings.
  5. Provides photo, video, and written coverage and other public relations support for school- and district-level events.
  6. Assists the communications team with compiling data and completes other daily marketing and communications tasks.
  7. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment.
