WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is not available for a Hybrid Telework workweek

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Ensures accurate record keeping by following procedures set forth by Wake County Public School System (WCPSS). Performs data entry processes including analyzing data for students being served or potentially eligible for entry into WCPSS. Complies and responds to large data requests from staff. Imports, cleans, researches, organizes, and examines data to provide accurate information to the requestor.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;
  • Excellent personal computer skills to include performing data entry and calculations;
  • Effective time management and organizational skills;
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to calmly route concerns to appropriate staff;
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to complete complex tasks and minimize errors with attention to detail;
  • Ability to coordinate and complete multiple tasks with deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently, complete tasks, and exercise independent judgment in the absence of clear directive;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, and the public.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field; AND
  • Two Years of experience directly relating to computer systems which require knowledge of editing and completing source data.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

None

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using Oracle business applications;
  • Experience using PowerSchool;
  • Written and oral fluency in Spanish.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Serves as the student information system expert for the office by selecting, summarizing, analyzing, and reviewing data for accuracy to produce standard, custom, and confidential reports for the department.
  2. Performs other data-related tasks in order to prepare and/or maintain computerized records to support the work of the Office of Student Assignment.
  3. Provides information and/or training to department on the use of student information systems and application data from system.
  4. Attends workshops and webinars to develop and maintain knowledge of the student information system by the district.
  5. Serves as the back up to the student assignment reception desk for parents, schools, and the public and provides customers with appropriate information and materials; routes inquires and concerns to appropriate staff.
  6. Responds to inquiries and researches replies to questions posed by school system staff, parents, and the public seeking information about student assignment; ensures that accurate information regarding WCPSS board policies related to student assignment is provided to customers.
  7. Performs general office duties to assist in the research, collection, compilation, and dissemination of vast and diverse information.
  8. Generates effective correspondence, presentations, reports and other documents, as needed.
  9. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force.
