WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Serves as the human resources staffing and professional development representative for Ambassador Teachers to facilitate the staffing process which includes applicant screening, hiring and teacher placement. Works with Teacher Support Program and Director of Leadership Development to support school administrators with Ambassador Teacher professional development, cultural competencies, and performance concerns.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) 

  • Extensive knowledge of the Ambassador Teacher Program;

  • Considerable knowledge of human resources, teacher support and professional development best practices; 

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;

  • Knowledge of culturally responsive practices;

  • Strong project and program management skills; 

  • Effective training and facilitation skills for professional development and onboarding;

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;

  • Ability to create, manage, and document budget allocations and expenditures; 

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts and feedback;

  • Ability to plan large-scale projects and events;

  • Ability to perform data analysis;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies and Ambassador Teachers. 

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field; AND 

  • Five years of school-based leadership experience or demonstrated leadership in Human Resources.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in a teaching content area; 

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina

requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in education, school administration, or curriculum and instruction;

  • Hold or be eligible for a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License for School Administrator-Principal or Curriculum Instructional Specialist;

  • Strong experience in Human Resources;

  • Experience with large initiative development, communications, and professional learning design.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manages the full employment process for International Ambassador Teachers including screening, interviewing, contracts, and school placement and licensure verification.

  2. Develops and maintains a comprehensive system for tracking teacher assignments, placements, and status.

  3. Establishes proactive communication channels to support school system staff and applicants throughout the employment process. 

  4. Collaborates with international teacher partner organizations. 

  5. Ensures correct initial contract placement and follow up for certified school employees at designated schools.

  6. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures by staying abreast of changes regarding school law, employment law, and Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) policies and procedures.

  7. Develops, implements, and monitors the program’s annual budget in alignment with organizational goals. 

  8. Plans and executes key program events including Ambassador Teacher Arrival and Orientation Days, coordinates logistics and onboarding materials.

  9. Facilitates and attends a minimum of four annual cultural experiences for Ambassador Teachers to foster engagement and cultural exchange. 

  10. Designs and delivers professional development to school administrators on responsibility of hosting Ambassador Teachers; creates training materials and facilitates sessions. 

  11. Coordinates with School Administrators and Teacher Support Team to ensure all Ambassador Teachers identified as non-proficient are offered targeted coaching and professional development opportunities specific to Ambassador Teachers.

  12. Designs initial placement year professional development calendar to address all components of NC Educator Evaluation System.

  13. Attends and participates in HR staff meetings, professional development, WCPSS recruitment events, job fairs, and other school system functions, as appropriate.

  14. Completes and provides HR data, program outcome reports, and budget utilization information to the Senior Director, as needed. 

  15. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office and school environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, external agencies, vendors, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment, as travel is required to schools, central service offices, and other locations within Wake County.
