Assists with the processing, staging, sale, and recording of surplus and ERD property generated by the renovation and construction of new schools and departments. Adds additional oversight and accountability of assets that are deemed surplus to the needs of the district.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps;
Sound judgement, decision making, and problem solving skills;
Ability to operate computers and general office equipment;
Ability to operate power tools, battery operated pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment, as needed;
Ability to operate box trucks and delivery vans;
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, and vendors.
High school diploma; AND
Three years of warehouse, surplus, and logistics experience.
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.
Forklift certification (or ability to receive within 90 days of hire).
Three years of experience in the processing, recording, and disposal of surplus public assets;
Logistics and warehouse experience;
General knowledge of local, state, and federal laws pertaining to the disposal of property.
Evaluates the status of surplus property to determine if it is cost effective to repair, salvage, repurpose, recycle, and/or dispose of surplus property.
Coordinates with proper authorities for the disposal or sale of surplus property.
Coordinates team response to requests for removal of surplus property.
Coordinates with third party the removal of surplus from renovation and construction projects.
Pickups and/or transports furniture and equipment to sites for proper processing.
Schedules removal and disposition of surplus with the designated school, site, staff, and third party.
Assists Warehouseman II with removal and delivery staging of ERD.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, and various hand tools. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle to include delivery vans and trucks. Work requires exposure to variable weather elements. It is also performed in a warehouse environment with variable temperature and moderate noise levels. Frequently requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to fifty pounds. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
