WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a Hybrid Telework workweek 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Researches, collects, disseminates, manages, and presents graphical and statistical data. Develops and maintains the Wake County Public School System’s Information Systems for FD&C.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;

  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements;

  • Effective organizational, leadership, and management skills;

  • Ability to be proactive and apply technical knowledge to improve deliverables, providing attention to detail to minimize errors;

  • Ability to effectively management documents;

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

  • Ability to accurately read, interpret and comply with WCPSS and departmental procedures;

  • Ability to work well within a team environment that values an open exchange of ideas;

  • Ability to interact positively and effectively with diverse group of stakeholders (e.g. design professionals, contractors, inspectors, principals, teachers, parents, other school system staff).

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university or college; AND

  • Experience in the field of information systems and web management; AND

  • Experience with Java, Power BI, Web design/support, Oracle or similar systems, document management; information management for a large organization/corporation; research and statistical analysis; and experience in database development and management; AND

  • Experience in network management and computer applications, including use of Microsoft Access, Web design, and SQL Database skills; AND

  • Experience supervising staff and leading teams;

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the  essential duties of the job.



CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.

  •  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in MIS or related field;

  • Database/web management certification.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for developing and implementing management of information systems policies, procedures, and initiatives. Identifies, analyzes, and develops improvements in processes, productivity, quality, internal client relationships, and customer service.

  2. Focuses on new or evolving systems, implementation projects, and collaboration with other department staff and information technology professionals to support system configuration and operations. Works with vendors, users and technical staff to ensure solutions attained are intended user functionality and goals. Provides scheduled and ad-hoc reports on a variety of information and statistics relevant to the general operations of the department.

  3. Evaluates software tools to manage the organization’s business schema; identifies essential information systems management needs and coordinates with all necessary functions to ensure that the timing and capability to meet the needs of the major capital projects from early program development to construction closeout.

  4. Performs systems administration, data collection, and report generation.

  5. Develops and manages FD&C Information Systems such as:

    1. Project Management Software (Kahua) and Primavera P6 Scheduling (Web Based);

    2. FD&C web site.

    3. ArcGIS

  6. Acts as a consultant to department managerial and support staff on all software programs and tools.

  7. Develops, coordinates, and conducts training to internal and external staff, vendors, and other stakeholders.

  8. Procures and manages contracts, as necessary, for continuing development of FD&C Information Systems.

  9. Coordinates the maintenance of, and makes recommendations on upgrades, as necessary, to the network and computer system for Facilities, Design and Construction.

  10. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work occasionally requires driving automotive equipment.
