POSITION PURPOSE:
Develops, directs, and oversees CNS warehouse operations under the policies of the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) and the Child Nutrition Services Program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)
- Extensive knowledge of supply, food, and equipment bidding procedures;
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;
- Effective time management and organizational skills;
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills;
- Excellent customer service skills;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
- Ability to analyze and interpret governmental regulations;
- Ability to minimize errors with attention to detail;
- Ability to foster teamwork within CNS;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, and other WCPSS departments such as Accounting, Purchasing, Technology Services, Compensation Services, and Security.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field from an accredited college or university;
- Two years of supervision or management experience;
- Sufficient experience with purchasing;
- Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of electronic inventory and ordering systems;
- Familiarity with local, state and federal laws relating to facility maintenance and operations;
- Working knowledge of Oracle business applications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Writes and awards bids on paper goods, cleaning supplies, small equipment, USDA commodity processing, and other warehouse needs, as required.
- Supervises the flow of purchased food from multiple vendors to all school sites, includes the receipt and transmission of weekly orders from all schools for groceries, bakery, fresh produce, ice cream, and vended snacks and drinks, as needed.
- Oversees customer service function as it relates to issues with product and service.
- Coordinates the flow of special diet foods, including receipt, inventory control, and issuance of food as well as serving as liaison with CNS Supervisor in charge of menus and special diets.
- Assists in generation of reports used as management tools as well as required governmental reports.
Includes vendors’ receipts of deliveries, warehouse invoices, school inventories, etc.
- Coordinates obtaining and scheduling maintenance of vehicles for CNS.
- Coordinates transfer of school equipment between sites and equipment removal for surplus/disposal.
- Maintains safety, security, and appearance of warehouse.
- Coordinates transfer of food during freezer failure at a school or at the warehouse.
- Coordinate opening new schools as well as renovations of old sites.
- Assists director and supervisors as needed with social functions such as securing samples of goods.
- Assists managers with emergency needs such as making deliveries.
- Maintains daily inventory records and performs actual physical inventory of warehouse semi-annually.
- Unloads trucks, when necessary.
- Attends workshops and professional growth meetings.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a and office and warehouse environment with variable temperatures. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, and vendors. Work is considered moderately heavy work, requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment. Travel within Wake County required.
