Delivers and removes supplies, materials, equipment, and furniture for schools and departments on assigned delivery routes. Responsible for the disposal and repurposing of property within the system as defined by NC Statute and Board Policy. Provides backup support for all driver and courier routes as well as performs other warehouse duties, as assigned. Provides guidance, training, and support for all other truck and/or courier drivers.
Considerable knowledge of NC State Statute and Board policy as it relates to the removal and disposal of Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) property; internal control processes as it relates to WCPSS, local,
state, and federal policies and procedures;
Knowledge of Microsoft office, specifically, Word and Excel; Google Apps; Oracle software;
Effective time management skills;
Excellent customer service skills;
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
Ability to work independently and without close supervision;
Ability to drive a large delivery truck and medium sized van;
Ability to establish, maintain, and report work priority, deadlines, and production levels;
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
Ability to function effectively within a team environment and to work independently without close supervision;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff.
High School diploma or equivalent;
Three years of applicable experience in a warehouse environment.
Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina
requirements;
Successfully complete training and certification requirements as a forklift operator within sixty days of the hire date.
Completion of safety training according to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards within 30 days of hire;
Additional coursework related to logistics and project management.
Operates a large delivery truck for drop off and removal of supplies, materials, equipment, and furniture.
Documents and records all removals and disposals of property through the Equipment Record and Disposition (ERD) process as determined by NC State Statute and Board Policy.
Maintains logs and documentation for delivery and removal of items.
Maintains a high degree of safety.
Ensures all signatures and approvals are obtained for custody control.
Performs various warehouse duties, as assigned, with proficiency.
Proficient use of Warehouse Oracle transactions.
Serves as a liaison between schools and department staff to coordinate large logistical moves.
Provides coverage for 200+ sites as related to deliveries, surplus, and courier routes.
Assists other Purchasing staff to meet performance expectations.
Maintains service records for vehicles and material handling equipment and schedule service, as required.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
This job operates in a warehouse environment requiring exposure to variable weather elements and temperatures during deliveries and daily warehouse environment. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members, contractors, third parties, and the community. Work is considered strenuous physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
