WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) 8am-5pm, Position is eligible for hybrid telework workweek 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversees planning, development and implementation of all processes related to student technology devices, including procurement and distribution of new devices, collections from outgoing students, refurbishment of returned devices, and repairs by vendors. Analyzes and makes independent recommendations on models and specifications. Evaluates new technologies and determines technical compliance with systems to determine viability of use.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of Google Workspace application tools including, but not limited to, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Sites, and Calendar;

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Email, and Outlook Calendar;

  • Demonstrated organizational and management skills;

  • Demonstrated leadership skills;

  • Effective customer service skills;

  • Exceptional attention to detail;

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data to determine effectiveness of initiatives, make process improvements, and to improve efficiency;

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new ideas to improve processes;

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues, direct-reports, district leaders, stakeholders, vendors, and external agencies with varying needs and perspectives;

  • Ability to function effectively within a team environment and to work independently without close supervision;

  • Ability to function exceptionally within a team environment, collaboratively and independently, with or without close supervision;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, external agencies, and vendors.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or comparable field; AND

  • Experience in an Information Technology (IT) service and support function in an environment similar in size and complexity to Wake County Public School System (WCPSS); AND

  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with asset management systems, service desk, or other similar systems;

  • Experience with Power BI to analyze and visualize data to make informed decisions;

  • Experience planning and deploying large scale resource initiatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversees planning, development and implementation of all processes related to student technology devices. This includes, but is not limited to, procurement and distribution of new devices; processing returned devices; coordinating returns for pickup; communicating with stakeholders and vendors; refurbishing returned devices; ensuring sufficient device inventory for replacements and new students; coordinating repairs with vendors; scheduling device deliveries; keeping accurate inventory and check-out records; coordinating additional staff to assist at peak times.

  2. Analyzes and makes independent recommendations on device models and specifications offered as district standards for purchasing.

  3. Collaborates with district instructional leaders to ensure device standards meet district instructional objectives and needs.

  4. Analyzes data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for optimization.

  5. Evaluates new technologies and determines technical compliance with existing technology systems to determine viability of use.

  6. Develops, analyzes, and summarizes data for use by management to make strategic decisions and process changes.

  7. Ensures all processes comply with district and departmental standards.

  8. Leads collaborative processes with teams in Technology Services to develop project schedules, determine project priorities, and assign tasks.

  9. Develops and implements a comprehensive technology lifecycle management strategy for student devices and other technology hardware assets aligned with the organization's objectives.

  10. Conducts regular assessments of technology assets to determine their lifecycle status and develops strategies for the retirement and replacement of technology hardware.

  11. Identifies cost-saving opportunities without compromising the customer experience.

  12. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to use a variety of office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. Must be able to communicate effectively. At times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds. The work occasionally requires driving automotive equipment. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for medium work. Must be able to work in an office environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
