WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position is available for a hybrid telework workweek 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversees a new leader onboarding program for principals and assistant principals and a new principal leadership academy; facilitates leadership coaching in individual and small group settings to impact continuous improvement for school leaders. Provides support to school leaders for continuous improvement strategies that align with the strategic plan. Oversees and manages the process of paid and unpaid internship placements and facilitates professional development for these interns.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Extensive knowledge of policies governing North Carolina Professional Educator’s Licensure requirements;

  • Extensive knowledge of methods and practices related to school improvement;

  • Comprehensive knowledge of strategic and instructional leadership skills;

  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles and practices of human resources management including local, state, and federal laws, policies, and procedures related to the employment of personnel;

  • Comprehensive knowledge of human resource compliance, compensation, and benefits;

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;

  • Knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Employment Labor Laws;

  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines;

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

  • Ability to make independent judgments and to implement creative solutions;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, contractors, and the public.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in human resources management, business, or education;

  • Three years of experience as a principal;



CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Holds a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License for School Administrator- Principal;

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading in a public school environment;

  • Experience designing and facilitating leadership programming;

  • Experience with the implementation and coaching of executive leadership standards.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Oversees the implementation of an ongoing and sustainable new leader onboarding program for principals and assistant principals and a new leadership academy to support school-based leaders; facilitates orientation and support sessions in individual and small group settings to impact continuous improvement for school leaders. Provides support to school leaders for continuous improvement strategies that align with the strategic plan.

  2. Serves as a recruiter to help increase the district’s ability to effectively identify and acquire talent; assists with screening potential talent during recruitment events and other opportunities. Works collaboratively with across departments to create pools of talent.

  3. Oversees and manages the process of internship placements; works collaboratively with colleges and universities to ensure professionally licensed interns are placed accordingly and follows relevant processes.

  4. Manages the process for placing school administrative internship candidates including the management of monthly stipends to be paid.

  5. Serves as a resource to administrators for inquiries related to staffing, compensation, and related areas; communicates regularly with school system staff and applicants to provide effective proactive support.

  6. Assists Employee Relations on matters related to dismissal, progressive discipline, and other due process procedures.

  7. Completes and provides human resources reports and information to the Board of Education and external agencies, as needed.

  8. Ensures adherence to policies and procedures by staying abreast of changes regarding school law, employment law, and Wake County Public Schools (WCPSS) policies and procedures.

  9. Manages the maintenance and ensures confidentiality of personnel files.

  10. Attends and participates in meetings, professional development, and conferences to stay abreast of current policies and procedures relating to staffing and human resource related trends/strategies.

  11. Perform other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff and staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment.
