WORK WEEK SCHEDULE

Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends required for on- call emergencies on a rotating basis) 

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

Performs entry-level or craftsman-level work associated with installation and maintenance door hardware, keys, and locking systems maintenance and repair by responding to work orders, troubleshooting appropriate measures, and performing work, as required by the work order. Replaces faulty or defective door hardware, keys, locking systems, and equipment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Working knowledge of door hardware, keys, locking systems and equipment;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps;

  • Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards;

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;

  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations;

  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on door hardware, keys, locking systems and equipment;

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • Experience directly related to door hardware, keys, locking systems and equipment installation and repair.

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards;

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with computerized maintenance management software, preferably MAXIMO.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs entry level or craftsman level work associated with door hardware, keys, and locking systems maintenance and repair by responding to work orders, troubleshooting appropriate measures, and performs work, as required, by the work order.

  2. Replaces faulty or defective door hardware, keys, locking systems, and equipment.

  3. Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.

  4. Adheres to laws, regulations and requirements set forth in the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) safety procedures/policies.

  5. Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintains a safe work environment.

  6. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position operates in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses a variety of equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 75 pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment, as well as Frequent exposure to hazardous materials, gases, and chemicals, moving parts, and inclement weather conditions.
