PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience working on life safety systems, sprinkler, fire alarm, MATV, intercom systems, and communications equipment and fixtures.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Performs entry level and craftsman level work associated with installation, inspection, and maintenance of communications equipment which may include fire alarms, life safety, sprinkler systems, MATV, intercoms, communications equipment, and fixtures.  - Responds to assigned work orders relating to life safety, sprinkler, fire alarm, MATV, and intercom systems.  - Troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution.  - Assists in replacing faulty or defective life safety, sprinkler, fire alarm, MATV, and intercom systems.  - Performs inspections, testing, and certification of life safety, sprinkler, fire alarm, MATV, and intercom systems.  - Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.  - Adheres to laws, regulations, and requirements set forth in the Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) Safety procedures/policies.  - Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintains a safe work environment.  - Performs other related duties, as assigned.   WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This job operates in an indoor and environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors and staff members of external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment.
